The Welsh Government has published the guidance on how the £500 support payment for unpaid carers will roll out.
To recap, it is a one-off £500 payment available for unpaid carers receiving Carers Allowance on 31 March 2022.
An unpaid carer is someone who cares for a partner, relative or friend who has an illness of disability. Carers Allowance is paid to people caring for at least 35 hours a week, who care for someone receiving certain benefits and who earn no more than £128 a week.
Eligible unpaid carers can claim the payment from their local council. Each Local Authority will also have its own guidance pages, including a link to its registration form and details on how to register offline.
