What is malnutrition?

Malnutrition refers to a lack of proper nutrition which may be a result of not eating food in the right amounts (eating too little), or not eating enough of the right things. It may also refer to an inability to digest or absorb your food properly due to certain conditions. Malnutrition may also be referred to as โ€˜undernutritionโ€™.

Are you at risk of malnutrition? Are you or someone you care about experiencing any of the following:-

  • Unplanned weight loss or feel you are underweight
  • Loss of appetite
  • A build up of fluid around your ankles, legs or stomach
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Clothes, jewellery or dentures becoming loose over time
