It can be comforting for people to be at home as they near the end of life. Caring for someone dying at home can be challenging yet rewarding, and everyone has different experiences. If you’re considering caring for someone at home or already doing so, it can help to know that you can get support.
Marie Curie has trained Helper volunteers who can provide practical and emotional support to someone living with a terminal illness. The person will be matched with a Helper (according to their needs and interests), who will spend up to three hours a week visiting them at home or speaking to the person over the phone.
If you’re living with a terminal illness or caring for someone, Marie Curie here with practical and clinical information, and emotional support.
The service is here for family and friends too – no one is turned away, so please don’t hesitate to call if you need them.
Helpline – 0800 090 2309
Support is free and the helpline is open 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and 11am-5pm on Saturdays.
