Among the initiatives being taken forward at Hubberston and Hakin Community Centre from October 2024 includes:

• Emotional Wellbeing Support for Carers to identify what type of short breaks the Centre can provide to best ensure that they can continue with their informal caring arrangements.
• Art & Craft courses for all abilities provided as a form of a short break with opportunities for the Carer to attend alone or with the person they support.
• Neurological Music Therapy sessions to be held to provide short breaks for Carers of those who have suffered a stroke or any other neurological condition.
• Group activities and drop-in services will be developed as a source of short breaks which the Carer can attend alone or with the person they support such as Boccia and Coffee Mornings.
• The Centre will provide services and activities for “Cared for people” to enable their Carers to do their chosen activities such as attending a GP / Hospital appointment, meeting friends or to go shopping etc ….
