Additional learning needs quiet hour at POINT Fishguard.
POINT will be opening the drop-in for an ALN quiet hour on the first and third Saturday of each month.
The session will be open to 10 young people aged 12-16 who have Additional Learning Needs, and who do not currently attend the Drop-In but wish to experience what POINT has to offer.
ALN (Additional Learning Needs) – The term encompasses a diverse range of abilities and disabilities, and it emphasizes the need for tailored approaches to participation and inclusion. ALN young people benefit from understanding, patience, and individualized support to help them thrive and participate fully in various aspects of life.
The aim of the drop-in’s is to:-
To create a calm, sensory-friendly, accessible environment.
Accommodating the needs of individuals using communication and technology.
Champion inclusion and support, allowing young people with
diverse abilities to feel Encouraged, Valued and Respected.
Embrace a person-centered philosophy. See each young person as an individual, with their own strengths and needs.
Tailor support to meet the child where they are. Understand their learning style, preferences, and pace.
Build bridges, connections and community through collaboration.
If you are or know a young person aged 12-16 who would like to join our quiet hour. Please email [email protected] for a registration form and further details.
